How to test roadside hardware
Video .
Ever wondered how roadside safety hardware is tested?
In this video we explore a recent project we did for Austroads and NTRO, showcasing our comprehensive service and cutting-edge techniques in testing roadside safety hardware.
Project Goal: Test a new bridge barrier design and update the Australian Standardised Bridge Barrier Design Guidelines.
Testing: Installed the barrier and conducted full-speed impact tests with three vehicles, including a 36-tonne truck and trailer at 90 km/hr.
Maximum Impact Energy: Achieved 754 kJ, 26% higher than the largest requirement in the Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH) – a world first.
Outcome: The barrier performed exceptionally well, enabling confident updates to the guidelines.
